Description:

This workshop was given at Family Medicine Forum 2012 by a practicing physician and resident, both of whom use their iPads extensively in daily life for both work-related and personal matters.  They talked about how the iPad’s ease of use and versatility has helped them with organization, efficiency, learning, and patient care.

They will do this by explaining what the iPad is within the context of other tools and devices we already use and are familiar with. They gave a live demonstration of how they use a number of iPad applicationss.  The functions of these applications include the following:

  • email
  • storing and viewing PDF documents
  • finding journal articles from repositories such as PubMed
  • working with Microsoft Office documents
  • giving presentations
  • taking notes in meetings
  • reference tool for medications, minor surgical procedures, and orthopedic examination
  • textbooks on the iPad
